Overview A Tools Technician maintains, repairs, and calibrates industrial tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and safety in manufacturing or production environments. They troubleshoot tooling problems, manage inventory, set up machinery, and follow strict safety protocols. Duties & Responsibilities • Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on tools, dies, and equipment. • Troubleshooting: Diagnose tooling issues and resolve problems quickly to minimize production downtime. • Setup & Calibration: Set up, adjust, and calibrate tools to meet production requirements. • Inventory Control: Maintain, organize, and track tool inventory, including check-in/check-out for workshop tools. • Safety Compliance: Ensure all machinery and tools comply with safety regulations and procedures. • Documentation: Update maintenance records and documentation on tool performance. Skills & Qualifications • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical systems, hand tools, power tools, and often CNC machinery. • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex mechanical or electrical issues. • Technical Documentation: Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. • Education/Certification: Often requires a high school diploma, with technical certificates or an associate’s degree in a relevant field preferred. • Communication: Strong ability to work with engineers and production staff.
