Job description The Quantity surveyor manage the costs on a construction project. They help to ensure that the construction project is completed within its projected budget. Major Accountabilities • Prepare, analyze and forecast project construction cost, including determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) and control all cost. • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contractual requirements to identify cost-effective solutions and optimize resources. • Review shop drawings and specifications during project development and project construction phase. • Perform risk, value management and cost control during construction. • Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure cost-effective project delivery. • Prepare and manage tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities and other documentation. • Monitor and control project costs, providing regular updates and reports to management. • Evaluate and negotiate contract variations, claims, and change orders. • Validate completed work, oversee bills and arrange payments. • Participate in both internal and external meetings to ensure that drawings are well designed; quality, and functionality are being met. Qualifications and Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or related field • 5-10 years of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, construction experience, or related field • Experience in residential projects is an asset • Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite • Able to analyze financial records and apply data to improve results • Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets, and financial reports • Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets; strong estimating and financial analysis skills • In-depth understanding of construction, materials, pricing, and industry
